“Editing for Elusive Details” is a collaboration between Honor Bishop and Hana Kim. The project consists of a series of assembly/disassembly designs that repurpose Portland Stone offcuts from a nearby quarry/stone mason’s yard. The series of furniture pieces produced are, through the materials used, evocative of the highly specific/local and generic/industrial world within which we live. All pieces are crafted using threaded bar and bolts and discarded stone. The design questions expectations of weight and permanence associated with stone construction to encourage new ways of thinking through reusing waste and methods of construction.
